Summer 2023
Wow! What an incredible Summer 2023 was! I hope you all had an amazing summer time too! Sure the weather was a little (or a lot) unpredictable at times but that didn’t stop the fun! In fact, one of my vividly happy memories was of my family and I dancing away in the pouring rain to ‘The Comet is Coming’ at Green Man festival! We got soaked to the skin but we were all buzzing with excitement from the watching the band live! It just proves that music is food for the soul no matter how much the rain falls!! 😆
I wanted to take the time to reflect on the Summer as we enter into Autumn and send out massive ‘thank you hugs’ to all the incredible people that make festivals happen!!
I know just how much effort, time, energy and planning these events require to run and often the people involved hardly take a break…. so THANK YOU so so much for making these inspiring, creative and fun events happen!! I feel so lucky to have been part of…. Chippenham Folk Festival, Orbit Wellbeing Festival, Beardy Festival, GTSF Festival, Community Festival, Warwick Folk Festival, Deerstock, Broadstairs Folk Week, Green Man Festival! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I hope I’ve spread a little positivity your way x 😘

I’m so happy and full of positive energy to share this exciting news with you all. It’s been a long time coming but hopefully it’s worth the wait! ‘Positivity’ is the title track to my new 11 track digital album and is inspired by my love of life, music and drinking tea! I want to inspire everyone to stir in a little joy, pour in a lot of laughter and brew a strong cup of positivity tea for themselves! ☕😊🎵
I have absolutely loved making this album to share with you all and have tried to keep true to my acoustic style roots and love of performing live… So if you spot any mistakes, so be it… I’m not a Robot, I’m human and I’m all about living in the moment and sharing what I love. I hope I can inspire others to follow their dreams and not worry about everything being perfect… Just go for it I say! 😄👍

BIG NEWS… I wrote a book!

BIG NEWS!! I wrote a book! It’s always been one of my live dreams to write a children’s picture book and I’m so happy to tell you that my dream has come true! I’ve been super lucky to collaborate with an amazingly talented artist and illustrator Elsa Rickett-Trueman!
… And today we both shed a few happy tears 😭 as we read our book ‘The Animal Train’ to the children of Upton Crickets Day Nursery! They loved it!! 😁😍 All really engaging with the story, picking up the repetitive rhyming narrative and loving guessing which animals were in each carriage! The BEST complement ever!! After reading the story we did some singing and dancing and then finished the session with some animal mask masking with Elsa! 😻

I just wanted to say a HUGE Thank you for showing so much compassion and kindness at our February Acoustic Jam Session on Friday - We raised £210 for the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal. Our hearts go out to everyone that has been affected by this horrific disaster. Having experienced earthquakes myself when living in Christchurch, New Zealand I know first hand just how terrifying they can be…. so I really thank you even more to everyone that has support the rescue and relief effort.

Fall into Autumn with me…
‘Fall into Autumn’ is a new song of mine that I wrote a couple of months back for a wonderful local Pop Up Market organised by GingerStone Events… I love writing new material and the challenge of creating something unique and special for someone gives me so much joy. The starting point for this song was the title of the event ‘Fall into Autumn’ and the song took off from there!
I love Autumn time… I love the changing colours of nature and the slow fall into the cosier part of the year… time for hot chocolates, breezy walks, snuggles by fires, and stories shared. I wanted the song to be mellow, warm and to wrap up the listener with a love of Autumn too. Hopefully this all comes across… You can listen to live performance of my song at a recent gig with Ellie Owen and Dawn Haynes at the end of this post.

There is something magical about jamming along with a room full of musicians! It’s just so energising, inspiring and soul connecting! I love to watch the magic of music unfold… as a seemingly shy and reserved person can suddenly be transformed with an empowered confidence, while fully encloaked in music’s shroud. It’s incredible to witness how whilst talking to others in conversion our words may appear clumsy and stuttered, yet when we sing our words instantly become clearer, coherent and more compelling! It’s like an untapped super power! 😊
I truly believe that music has an innate power to touch each of us on some level, no matter our age, no matter our background… It moves our hearts and souls in a way that is truly timeless…. a universal language.
So today I just wanted to pop on here and write a little ‘THANK YOU’ to all my fellow musicians for jamming along with me at last night’s monthly Acoustic Jam Session, ‘Community’ ‘Friendship’ and ‘Inspiration’ are all words that spring to mind! True ‘LIVE’ music like that is so pure, so real, so raw and totally unfiltered that it simply makes my spirit sing… for we share in the laughter and joy of creating music of the moment… it doesn’t have to be perfect to be shared… it just has to be enjoyed together! It’s like my rocket fuel 😁 I feel my heart fill with boundless energy and my soul enlighten with positive hope for a brighter world.

Sometimes I might get time to write lots on here, other times not so much but I’m exciting to begin and it’s a new moon tonight so it seems like the perfect time to start this! 🌚
I’ve been busy working on this website for a good few months now and love how it’s coming along… Especially as I’m no computer wiz! 😂 Life is busy as we’re now in festival season and I’m just loving being busy again! Festivals hold a special place in my heart! I love the vibes, positive energy and the way that everyone is welcome to be themselves at a festival! Does that make sense? You can wear what you want, dance how you want and be truly authentically YOU!!
Baby Bops and Toddle Bops has finished for the term and my boys have now broken up for Summer Holidays so I’m looking forward to spending lots of time together having adventures and making happy summer memories! 🌞
